Mojang has finally released Minecraft - Pocket Edition 0.8.0 for iOS, a much-hyped update that was supposed to deliver Redstone and other enhancements. While the update is chock-full of goodies, there’s no Redstone in sight.
Avid fans who download Minecraft - Pocket Edition 0.8.0 today will be greeted by minecarts, rails, and powered rails, graphics taken straight from the PC version, extra blocks and items to use in Creative Mode, a tabbed Creative Mode inventory, better lighting, and tons of bug fixes, as usual.
Players can gaze at the full changelog below, while newcomers will need to shell out $6.99 / €5.99 to play the game.
The good news is that there are no tricky in-app purchases involved, and millions of gamers around the world agree that Minecraft – Pocket Edition is the best seven dollars they’ve ever spent.

Mojang admits that there may still be some bugs in Minecraft - Pocket Edition 0.8.0 that need squashing.

Curiously, the 0.8.0 update was said to bring the much-coveted Redstone mineral which can be used for switches and mechanisms. Apparently Mojang is holding it off for a future update.
