Can I please get help to find a Fender model by serial number? It is supposed to be a 1996 American Fat Strat 50th Ann. But I am not sure if it is the real deal. The serial number is N6116806 It has the oval 50th ann. Coin on the back of the headstock. Could this be a Japanese? This is 100% spot on. The only way to know for sure is to check the serial number. There have been dozens and dozens of Strat variants over the years. It is impossible to say if $1350 AUS is a good value or not, without knowing what model it is. This item: Guitar Identification: A Reference Guide to Serial Numbers for Dating the Guitars Made by Fender by A. Duchossoir Paperback $14.99 Only 5 left in stock (more on the way). Ships from and sold by Amazon.com. Fender guitars produced in Japan have the serial number on the back of the neck, near the attachment to the body. In some reissue models it can be found on the headstock or the neck plate. The combination of the text 'Made in Japan' and the serial number was used until 1997.
